OPPORTUNITY: Book Publishing Immersion Workshop at Simon Fraser
The publishing duties of many librarians are growing. While librarians are experts in data management, assuming a publisher’s role without experience can prove daunting. Our course curriculum ensures that participants will, upon graduation, have the skills that they need to spearhead publishing endeavours with confidence.
SFU is pleased to announce that, as a result of a gift from an anonymous donor, three seats in the Book Publishing Immersion workshop (July 10-23, 2011) have been reserved for post-secondary-based librarians at a discounted rate.
This two-week intensive course covers all aspects of modern book publishing, including: the current state of the publishing industry; best practices in new technology; business and financial management; multi-platform
publishing; marketing and promotion; design; acquisitions; and digital dissemination.
This workshop includes lectures, discussion groups and hands-on team-based projects facilitated by top editors, designers, marketers, technologists, and communicators.
The normal cost of the program is $2295 CDN. The three reserved seats have been discounted to $1,800 –
a $600 savings.
This is a time-limited opportunity and applicants must express interest by June 15, 2011.
Contact either Suzanne Norman (778.782.5241) or Leanne Prain (778.782.5229) to secure a spot in the workshop.
