Authors sometimes upload the wrong file, or need to update a file after some review requests. So they need to be able to delete supplementary files. So far, it seems that only editors have this possibility, via the EDITING/LAYOUT menu.

This feature is needed for the main file and for "supplementary files" as well. In computational science journals for example, a submission will always be made of many files: the manuscript, the source code, and a dataset, and each of these files is as important, and may be revised as well.
