There is currently no good, easy way for authors to communicate submission changes (eg. file revisions, additions, changes to supplementary files, changes in focus, etc.) between themselves and editors outside of the editor email option, and this is difficult to share with others, for example reviewers, without copy/pasting. It would be useful to extend the "Submission notes" option, currently only available to Editors, so that Authors and optionally Reviewers can make notes as well, and subsequently have these notes shared (with Editorial consent) back and forth. 

(This probably exists or will exist at some point in OMP, I'm guessing.)
