Currently, the only identification options are "title" (default), "num_vol_year", "vol_year", and "year"; there should also be a "num_year" option, as well as possibly just "num" and "vol" options (though probably less used).

... Not entirely sure why I assigned this to myself unless I thought I could fix it, in which case I was perhaps being irrationally exuberant. 

I think this should be deferred, and a thorough re-evaluation of the native- and users- plugins be undertaken post-2.3 to ensure that we're taking into account everything we should be (for ex., Michael's upcoming work on importing/exporting subscription info). Thoughts (Alec)?
