Thanks to the great work of research librarian Niels Erik Frederiksen, we now have a full 2.2.2 translation of Open Journal Systems in Danish! An example of this translation can be seen here, and the translation itself can be downloaded from the Danish language page.

The PKP Development Team is pleased to announce the release of OCS 2.1.2.

OCS 2.1.2 is a maintenance release that fixes several minor bugs in OCS 2.1.1 and introduces several new features, including:

* Complete CAPTCHA support in OCS 2.x
* Review forms ported from OJS
* Add a la carte items to registration
* Merge users at site level

PKP associates Michael Felczak, Richard Smith, and Rowland Lorimer have published a new article providing a brief overview of their OJS journal, Canadian Journal of Communication, the Public Knowledge Project, and the Canadian Synergies project.

Joe L. Kincheloe, keyboard, vocalist and songwriter for Tony and the Hegemones, died on December 19, 2008 after suffering a heart attack while vacationing in Jamaica. He was an active supporter of PKP intellectually, and musically, and his death can only be described as a tragic loss for both scholarship and rock 'n roll.

Thanks to the dedicated work of the Romanian translation team (Viorel Guliciuc, Mihai Dreve, Iulian Sadoveac, Constantinescu Nicolaie) and the Welsh translation team (Swansea University), OJS is now available in Romanian and Welsh.

This puts the number of completed or in-progress OJS translations up to 33! It is a wonderful reflection of the important work of the international PKP community. Our thanks go out to them all.

The Public Knowledge Project’s survey of journals that are using Open Journal Systems was completed by 1,081 respondents, representing roughly 35 percent of the journals using OJS. The analysis of this data is now underway, led by Brian Edgar, with the results to be posted on this site. Thanks go out to all who contributed and the three winners of the survey draw are Claire Borody, Co-Editor of the Canadian Journal of Practice-based Research in Theatre, Ricardo Silva, Editor-in-Chief of Política & Sociedad, and Joanne Mullins, Coordinator of the Monash University ePress.

Over the weekend, PKP partner African Journals Online (AJOL) launched the new version of their web portal, providing full-text downloads to over 24,500 African research articles. Their new site was built in partnership with PKP and is powered by the latest version of Open Journal Systems
